So I have been at my current employer for 10 years. Things have kinda gone downhill as far as employee morale, pay, work responsibilities etc. I am a project manager but they have basically eliminated our position and moved us into a new role which would be field supervisor, but we are glorified lead techs now. It’s a snowball of things that just make me dread going to work anymore.
I have interviewed for a few companies and I have received an offer for an almost 30% raise, as well as an additional week of vacation time and the health insurance is cheaper. My hesitation is…10-15 years ago some of my coworkers worked for this company and they tell me to stay far away from this guy because he overworks people, and is a giant a-hole. One of the guys says it was a long time ago and maybe it’s changed, but it’s hard to tell. During the interview he was quite a nice guy, but maybe that’s his schtick to get people in.
I am having a hard time deciding because the place I’m at now has been around for 50 years and is very stable, and as long as I do my job no one is looking over my shoulder. I am very underpaid for my role, but after a decade I’ve just gotten comfortable (lazy?)
I know no one here can make this decision for me, I am just seeing if anyone has a point of view that maybe I haven’t thought of yet.
