What Worked For Me

After five months of looking, I received an offer today. The one thing that worked well for me is a tip I have seen on here before and I wanted to share again: always apply directly through the company’s site.

Overall, I had zero success applying with LinkedIn - literally zero callbacks. I had about half a dozen callbacks through Indeed - all were lower than what my desired salary was, but when you’re operating from a scarcity mindset, you’re willing to look at any job available. Applying directly through a company’s site led to the most callbacks. I asked two of the recruiters if that made a difference in what they saw on their end – and they both said that folks who apply through the company website are more likely to be seen.

In December, I had nothing but radio silence and it was by far the hardest month to stay optimistic. In January, though, I started getting callbacks and lined up several interviews that progressed well.

Oh, and while this was only my experience, and I can’t speak for the market as a whole, I only had two resume versions that I submitted – I did NOT tailor my résumé for every role.

I know it is frustrating and I know it is hard to stay optimistic, but I’m sending out all the positive energy and good vibes I can to everyone who is looking to start a new chapter. I hope you land your new role soon!
