I came across so many posts lately about layoffs at Meta and Amazon, AI taking over job roles, and how tough the market feels right now. Working as a recruiter for so many years, I’ve seen the job market being extremely dynamic. This year is no different either! But this layoff news feels heavy because it doesn’t just affect the concerned person; it also affects those who depend on them. Also, the job market is getting tougher day by day due to new graduates entering it, experienced professionals seeking better roles, and others switching careers. In all of these, one thing is constant: the pressure to get a good job.
People often reach out to me with all of these problems. As a former recruiter, I’ve screened thousands of candidates for various roles, conducted interviews, and had lengthy discussions before final hiring decisions were made. I know what pushes a candidate forward and what quietly leads to rejection.
But instead of just sharing advice, today, I genuinely want to listen. I want to truly understand what it is like, from your perspective. The more specific you are, the more practical I can be in responding.
I’m glad to share what I’ve learned from my journey as a recruiter. At the same time, I’m genuinely interested in learning from everyone else’s experiences here.
So, here’s a small question for you: what is the one thing that’s bothering you the most in your job search?
