Networking advice online stops at "send the cold dm." Nobody talks about the part after, the "i'll send you my deck by friday" or "let me intro you to X" that you promise and then forget about 6 days later because 9 other conversations happened.
started using networking tracker about 3 months ago (real reason: i needed something that wasn't a spreadsheet, because my excel sheet wasn't reminding me to actually do the followup thing. the tracker pings me when i've gone silent on someone).
90 days of data:
- conversations logged: 87
- followups i'd promised: 64
- followups i'd actually sent before using a tracker (estimated): \~38
- followups sent after using one: 61
i was ghosting 40% of the people i was supposedly "networking with."
