Tips to explain termination to interviewers

Context: this is my first nurse job :)

Let me be blunt, I was fired for a joke that was made in a personal group chat with 3 other co workers. In this group chat everyone would say jokes especially the older women. (Two 50 year olds and two in their 20’s). Essentially I was fired because the other young gal made a joke and I added onto the joke and the 50 year olds got offended. (Btw these 50 year olds are disgusting. They made sexual jokes all the time unsolicited.)

But yes, me and my other co-worker were fired. This was the first job ever where I did amazingly. I was constantly praised by the doctors and patients and even the same manager that fired me. I worked overtime all the time and did everything my manager wanted.

How do I tell any interviewers that I was fired? I am a nurse so it may be difficult to lie that it was because of lay offs or whatever. I worked in a specialized office in a giant medical complex. I have many references from my previous job. However the people I have been interviewed by will not even glance at my references from my previous job.

I have 2 letter of recommendations from 2 doctors from the same job that fired me. The interviewers I have seen will ask me to divulge more into why I was fired. I have said “ My previous job and I have amicably decided it was time to part ways and this job has provided me many opportunities that I am grateful for.” One interviewer kept saying can you please give further explanation and if he were to call right now, would I be re-hire able. Another laughed and said what does that mean, in a very sarcastic tone. I only worked there for 6 months and I was going to quit in the next few days regardless.

Am I wording it wrong? I follow a few people on YouTube who teach how to speak in an interview and they basically said to say that you enjoyed the job but both you and company decided it was best to go.
