Quit my job yesterday because boss stopped paying out commission.

I had been a business development director for an industrial shop for a little over two years. Sales were slow at first but once we got going things started to pick up…until our boss lost a contract that was paying a quarterly chunk to float along. Suddenly we got an email that commissions will be frozen, I hadn’t been paid out in a while so I knew my time was limited. I finally got the courage to start my own sales gig with a few client retainers to get me moving.

The only thing is that I’m kicking myself for waiting this long to venture out on my own. There were emotions involved in leaving too, I really enjoyed working there. I sent my resignation with a email about unpaid commission, and it’s been radio silence. My resignation wasn’t even accepted. My email was turned off within a couple of hours. Just nothing. I’m excited about my next journey but I’ve learned a valuable lesson. Also, cheers to never submitting a PTO request again.
