I worked in a 1k employee big brand company as a Data steward. I was there from December until April. I admit my first 2 months were poor but I managed to salvage myself and not get any bad reports or criticism. For 7 weeks I had no issues or poor output. I was doing fine and even I got praise from some people outside the department. Then my review came and my boss terminated me on the spot. I was so shocked. Okay I understand the first few months were rough but I was never told I'm at risk. She never told me that I am at risk of failing probation. Like those silent 7 weeks Nothing. Absolutely no reports. I was told to pack my things.
My parents even my lawyer friend aagreed that what she did was unacceptable. I may have had poor performance, but I should have been told that I am at risk of failing. Even poor performing employees should be notified. My mom had a contact at the company, a high level HR executive. We just wanted to have my status as RESIGNED. That's it. I also submitted my resignation letter to my boss. It was accepted and my status is resigned. I just forgot about it after that and did job hunting.
After job hunts with no success, I was contacted by the HR head of the company. He told me IDK why he contacted me now but he told me I am allowed to go back. I can get a job interview right away as long as the position is not in my old department and under a different executive. I went for it and got accepted.
Last monday I began my new job at the same company in a different position. I am a Marketing analyst. It was good. I met my team and my boss is really nice. I also made sure to make my boss know about my disability, something I did not tell my first boss and I should have.
Last Thursday I was waiting for the elevator and then My first boss noticed me. The first thing she asked me "Why are you Here? I thought I let you go! You are not supposed to be here!" I decided to just tell her "I applied here and got accepted. That's what happened." She was really shocked and before she could react my floor came and I went ahead.
Man I have a big target. I know I might sound like a nepo baby but an opportunity opened up! I did not even ask for that opportunity. I just wanted to forget about the company and move on.
