Job searching is so hard

I need some advice. I feel so defeated because the past ten years my job history has been very sporadic due to personal reasons. I have gaps between employment. Also, I am late 40’s with zero career because I have never known what I wanted to do with myself. I have an associates which is zero help. I only apply to entry level positions that I know for a fact I can do. How do I make a resume look appealing? How come the high school age people I know with zero experience are getting better jobs than me? I am a server and I can’t keep doing this. My body hurts. Has anyone else dealt with so much job rejection? Also is AI really taking over to where actual humans aren’t even looking at applications? I need advice. this is so incredibly frustrating and defeating. In the past, I’ve held jobs in healthcare and other office environments. I’m not sure what’s making me less appealing these days for employers. I feel like I don’t even have a fighting chance these days.
