I had a second round interview today and the interviewer offered me the job. She called me a few hours later saying that the owner of the company was asking about how much I am excepting or wanting in pay. She also mentioned that apparently the owner interviewed another candidate on his own, which she didn’t know about.
So basically I was offered the job, only to later be told I need to wait longer to see if it’s going to someone else. My interviewer apologized and said she had no idea there were other candidates than me, but is hopeful that I’ll get the job. I just don’t know how to feel or if this is basically them saying no. She said to wait until end of next week to find out, but it feels so unfair. They offered me the job. Now I don’t have it anymore. Has this happened with anyone else?
I want to clarify by saying that I’m a recent graduate and I don’t have anything on my resume that isn’t 100% factual, and if they did a background check without me knowing, absolutely nothing would come up. The interview today went fantastic and she was excited to have me start. It was all formalities left. I’m just really beat up about this and confused.
