I wanted to share something that’s been bothering me about my job search lately.
For the past \~3 months, I’ve been applying pretty aggressively every single day, but I’ve gotten almost zero response. Not a single proper interview call — just one recruiter reached out, and even that didn’t convert into an interview.
What’s confusing is that back in December, I was applying in a very similar way and got around 5 interview calls. I even cleared 2 of them, but I chose to stay at my current company because I was aiming for something bigger (FAANG-level, better pay, etc.). I felt confident at that time since I had been preparing seriously for about 6 months.
Fast forward to now — the market feels completely dead for me. On top of that, I recently got laid off due to company restructuring, so now I’m actively looking without a job.
At this point, I’m spending most of my time just applying to jobs and less time actually studying or improving skills… but the applying part isn’t even working.
If anyone here has gone through something similar or has advice on how to actually get shortlisted (resume tips, strategy, anything), I’d really appreciate it. Feels like I’m stuck in a loop right now.
