This is helpful advice that will save many from the malice that comes from jealousy. If you have a high paying job or any valuable job, do not tell people where you specifically work (company name). This is because I’ve noticed an alarming rate of wickedly jealous people who seek to destroy another person’s blessing just because they can’t have that other person’s blessing. Simply, when people can’t have what you have they will seek to destroy what you have.
I’ve heard stories about envious relatives and friends reporting people to their bosses to get them fired. Anyone can search your job’s website to find the people at your job. If your job pays you very well and people can tell by your lifestyle, they will become opportunistic to do the same job as you even if they do not have the qualifications. Also, be careful not to reference people for a job if you do not know them because if they lie about their qualifications or turn out to be a bad employee that makes you look disreputable.
In a world where there is overconsumption, people are becoming extremely self motivated, jealous, greedy, competitive and simply miserable. I always say privacy is security so protect anything that’s valuable in your life by keeping it private. When people ask me what I do for a living I’m proud to tell them my profession but when they ask “where” do I work I tell them “I keep that private”.
Genuine people will ask what you do for a living as a topic of conversation but disingenuous people will want to know where specifically, to do some digging on you and sometimes they ask because they’re opportunistically looking for a job.
