I accepted a job offer in April and worked at the company for 1 month. When hired I was initially told by the owner that we'd do a 90 day probation period. During the first month, I discovered why he has a reputation as a nanomanager and I faced his wrath a few times where he got into my face getting angry and yelled at me, cut me off on the phone. If you think micromanager is bad, nanomanager is even worse. I was chastised by the big boss even though I was following the advice of the supervisor and another colleague with whom I was job shadowing.
I didn't really see a future with the company and I'd been renting rooms by the night or week , returning home on weekends, but I was willing to give it a shot. The big issue is that the owner has a reputation for delaying payments on invoices until his suppliers threaten to cut off service.
I emailed my time sheet on time and when I saw the company's accountant in the office (sitting at my desk preventing me from starting to work on time...nice huh?), she claimed she hadn't seen it. I'm awaiting payment of $4000+ for the past month of work. I will follow up with her and send my final time sheet on Monday, but what should I do - add this experience to my resume, or leave it off? If management writes "fired/terminated" that won't look good on background checks or future employers will wonder, but my previous job ended in Sept 2025 and so that's over 6 months unemployed, therefore I felt I should write something.
