I see so many companies doing this, and it's such a time-waster

I am a foreigner situated in Japan, so I am very much dependent on remote jobs to keep my family fed (due to native speakers getting priority in local offers)

What annoys me to no end is all the companies that advertise themselves as being remote or like this one that claims that you can work anywhere in the world, and then when you click on the offer and read requirements they list all the limitations which are either related to time zones and/or tax and security reasons. Sometimes they don't even list it in the requirements and I send my application and wait for weeks, only to get a reply that actually they only hire remote workers in THEIR own country.

I don't understand why it is so difficult to write "Remote (US only)" in your title or "Remote (CET only)". You are posting on an international page where people from all over the world are gonna apply, so of course many people are gonna assume that Remote actually means without borders. It also confuses me that some of these companies even bother posting on international pages when they only accept people living in their own countries. Wouldn't it make more sense then to post on a local page?

I don't blame them for having these requirements. I just wish they would be more specific about them so people like me didn't have to waste time looking and applying for applications that are not meant for us...
