I left my toxic job with nothing lined up. I was there for several years and every week I'd apply for new jobs and never hear back. Every month I'd tell myself "just save up another month, and then you can go"
After one final straw I talked with my spouse, parents and friends to get clarity and gave my notice the next week.
They begged me to stay, offered me a raise, a promotion, more days off. It felt so incredibly good to say no and finally be free.
I have weirdly started hearing back from way more applications now that I've quit and have had several interviews already in less than two weeks.
I just wanted to share this because there are so many horror story posts about people who quit and have been miserable and unemployed for months or years and I want to share my positive experience and say: if you can't take it anymore you can leave if you need to. You're not a failure or irresponsible or stupid. It does get better!
