I just got a job and im already dreading it.

I am going to start a construction job for the first time and I really need to get a job and work because I’m broke right now. I have orientation Monday and I assume that I work the rest of my shift, which scares me to be honest. I’m 20 and still living with my mom, she’s not angry or anything but definitely wants me to work or go to college.

I’m just so nervous about the job and everything, it just makes me stress out for no reason. So it’s in a warehouse and we build houses, which are then transported to whomever buys them. There’s a ton of different positions I can do, basically every role you’d think to make a house is involved, with roofers on every house they’re working on.

It’s a very fast paced work environment, 9 hour days from 6am-330pm and i have to get up at 4:30 cause it’s 30 minutes away. I need to wear a hardhat and ear protection, which is whatever but I wish we could listen to music. I’ve really only ever worked in restaurants and fast food, but I need a higher paying job. I sweat a lot normally, like a worrying amount and i’m gonna be sweating a ton at this place, not to be gross or dramatic.

I undoubtedly have soft hands lol, I hate working in warehouses. This is the third time I’ve worked in one and I’m sure i’m gonna hate it like the rest. I hate how cramped and loud it is in there, the air is always very bad and my lungs are shit, so it’s just a bad combination. I’m sorry if I just rambled, i’m nervous.

Any advice on what to expect from the work? Or how to stop worrying about it so much?
