I’m 17, turning 18 this Sunday and been trying to get a job for over two years. Ive applied to dozens of jobs near my area mult times since then (I don’t have much places to even get a job to begin with that hire teens but wtv). Im ALWAYS hearing from adults or people with jobs “Just try retail” “Try a fast food place“ “Try family restaurants.” Well let me tell you, I’ve done ALL of these. Last Saturday was my latest attempt at trying to get a job, I’ve went to Publix, Dunkin, Smoothie King, A local cold stone sho, Subway and *Mcdonalds.* Before doing this I thought I would at least have some hope but no, not a single one of them was hiring (expect smoothie king.) Freaking MCDONALDS wasn’t hiring, this is my third McDonalds I went, I tried to avoid it bc I’ve only heard bad stuff about it but right now I’m so so desperate. All three of those McDonalds said they weren’t hiring.
Smoothie King however was “hiring,” at first I was excited and had a small bit of hope because while I was writing down my availability, I overheard the two workers there dis about a guy who stopped working or stopped showing up. But yesterday I gotten a notification saying theyre not moving forward with my recruitment.
Im just tired man, I’ve been trying for litera years at the “bottom of the barrel” jobs, jobs that been said that is easy to apply or that they’re always hiring. Ive only ever gotten one interview during all this, all I’ve heard was “we are not hiring.” I literally just want to give up as I don’t know what to do, I’ve made a resume, I’ve tried coming multiple times and calling.
