I declined a job offer

Hello, I’m 23 and I’ve currently been unemployed for 10 months.
I applied for a secretary position at a law firm. They interviewed me two days ago along with another girl, which I found a little weird. It seemed like they didn’t really like me because they were asking the other girl more questions.
However, today they called me and asked if I could come in, so I went. They had me type a whole text in Word to see if I could type quickly and if my spelling was good.
They seemed really weird, and honestly, I didn’t like the vibe at all. They were asking me things like, “If we sometimes shout at you, don’t be too sensitive. That’s just how this job is.”
That made me freeze and feel really sad because my previous jobs had somewhat toxic environments too. They also mentioned many demanding responsibilities that I don’t have much experience with.
The salary was €630/month, 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday.
I feel really sad about rejecting the job, but they scared me, and I also know that I’m not a very independent person yet. I even lied to my mom about it and didn’t tell her that I rejected the job because I know she’ll be disappointed. :( And no, I don’t ask her for money. I’ve been living off my savings for these past 10 months.
Thank you if you read all of this

Edit: Thank you so much for your positive comments! It makes me feel a lot better
