Edit: don’t bother replying if you’re just going to say take the offer. My company is focusing on retention and giving a similar raise to someone not even looking for a new job. I am asking what I can ask for at my current job that has enticed you in the past.
I recently received a job offer for $80,000/yr in a new city. Admittedly, I was pretty firm at $85,000, so I was mildly shocked they scaled it back. I currently make about $70,000/yr, so it’s still a big enough jump to consider. I was making under $65k at the beginning of this year. I’ve been given a generous raise, but we received company-wide pay cuts that took most of it away.
HR has offered me $82,000/yr to stay. This is a 30% raise in one year. They said they want to take money off the table when I make my decision. I feel really lucky to be put in this position.
I have communicated with them that pay hasn’t been an issue. Of course, it’s always nice to be paid more, but truthfully any extra money right now gets tossed into investments.
I’ve lived here for 6 years. It is my home. My best friend and coworker quit a month ago. I have essentially 0 friends, and it’s eating at me. My personal life feels like it’s going downhill faster every day. I feel alone and the more I think about change, the more excited I get.
Anyways, enough of the back story.
HR asked if there’s anything they can do. I guess to make work life better… idk. She said she would bake me a cake if I wanted it lol. I guess I just want advice on what exactly I could ask for. I want an office, but there’s none left. I’d feel bad to kick someone out of theirs even if they’re in office once a week at most. Is there something small that had a big impact on your work life? It’s a generous offer, but I’d like to make the most of it, and any advice is appreciated.
