I am starting a new job this month, and despite being in healthcare administration, the pay is painfully low. Despite having earned more in this industry only a couple of years ago, pretty much all listings for this type of role have the same compensation as the offer I just accepted, or even lower. On top of that, the hours are variable, and there's a chance I can get called in on short notice, so it makes getting a second job seem not viable.
The pay is low enough that I will be at a monthly deficit by a couple hundred dollars. Just my necessities (rent, groceris, and bills) will take up the entirety of my monthly paycheck. I already live in the slums in a rough ass apartment, I drive an absolute beater, I never go out and don't drink because I'm too poor. I just dont understand what other people in my generation are doing to get by if they don't have support from their families. It's so frustrating because I have a university degree and am still not even getting by.
