Got hired and abruptly let go because I "wasn't a good fit."

I applied to a pool company as an "electrician" and had a very enthusiastic phone interview. But they never had a follow up where I could meet the employers, and the following phone call was a woman saying, "Come Tuesday at 7.

Despite showing up on time, following directions the best I could, and not arguing with anybody, I was abruptly let go and given $100 of cash 2 hours into the shift.

The manager said I did nothing wrong, but kept saying "You're not a good fit." as I tried to reason with him, and told me to go home. He wouldn't even answer why I was even hired in the first place!

On a side note, the manager said the company is 10 years old, but their headquarters is at the back corner of an industrial parking lot with a few shipment crates and trucks, and none of the other employees have even worked 8 months at the job.

The closest explanation is that maybe my work experience was vastly different from the job they were doing, but I had very low expectations with this job anyway. I was more confused than upset, but I am feeling very bleak right now.
