The title pretty much sums it up. I’m about 50-60 applications in (rookie numbers, I know, but I’m still working full time thankfully, but it seriously limits how much time I have to search and apply) and finally got past AI and ATS to a recruiter interview. Company requires an unknown threshold on a 40 question 20 minute aptitude test. Apparently I didn’t meet the threshold, so they won’t even consider me moving forward, despite the recruiter saying I was the strongest candidate she had seen for the job so far. They won’t tell me my score, where I can improve, what their required score was, or anything else. I’m no genius, but I don’t think I’m too much of an idiot either. The test was all pattern recognition and mental math questions involving decimals, long division, and random percentages. I finished 37/40 and was feeling pretty confident until I got the email. Now I feeling pretty unqualified for anything else I’m looking at applying to. The job seemed like a great fit, I was very qualified, just can’t do long division mentally in 30 seconds apparently. If you read this far, thanks. Just needed somewhere to write and vent. Trying to hang in there, but every rejection email and bombed interview slowly chips away.
