Finally got a job offer from a job I withdrew my application from.

I applied for a job about a week ago. It was listed as a consulting job and I figured why not? I got a text message asking if I was available for an interview at 12:00PM last Wednesday. I thought it was weird to text but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed to interview.

Strike number one.

I go to the interview and its actually a group interview. I was not disclosed that it was a group interview. Was very brief and awkward more or less.

Strike number two.

They say theyre interested in a followup interview and ask if I can interview at 8:00AM the following day. I said that I cant interview that early because I work from 8-12 (part time student). They said they can only interview at 8 and 830AM. I bite the bullet and manage to work the interview around my work schedule.

Strike number three.

At this point im getting fustrated but its only the second second round interview I got. But alarm bells were ringing in my head so I proceeded cautiously.

We do the interview, and they talk about the area of location, what ill be doing, and very very briefly on compensation. In short, the job was a lot more sales representative than initially put in their job posting. In fact, the only way to move up in the company (or advance to a new stage I guess) was by selling "lines". When I asked about further clarification on pay, they said it was merit based and it was decided on how much I wanted to put into my work.

Strike number four. Im out.

I finish the interview and know theyre going to offer me the position. But at that point I felt fustrated. In the posting, it listed the base pay was 70k. But learning it was just about entirely merit based, not included in the posting whatsoever, made me finally decide to withdraw my application.

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but there were too many red flags.

I left them an email saying that I thank them for their time and consideration but I have decided to move in a different direction.

They apparently didn't read the email and texted me that I could come in next Monday to sign a contract. Which couldn't happen because I am 6 hours away from the place. This was for after I graduate with my masters. They knew I was six hours away and still tried to convince me to drive the six hours willy nilly without any hesitation.

Im dejected right now and fustrated. Felt lied to and my first job offer is nothing more than a sham.
