I'm not the hiring manager but due to my experience and knowledge was asked to observe and ask the technical questions.
This was also one of only 3 Teams Video Call we've done.
Not 2 minutes into the interview I began to notice the candidates eyes moving as if reading a script.
I messaged the hiring manager to see if it was just me.
The hiring manager likes to ask some softball hobby related questions here and there to try to make them at ease.
The candidate literally did not make sense once this happened when they started asking personal life experience questions.
One that stuck out was "what got you interested in subject X when you were a kid?'
Mind you this question was based off a tidbit in the resume that said they started building X when they were a kid.
Their answer 'I have always liked X but what inspired me to pursue X studies was an internship at Y Company's summer internship.'
We asked again with more clarification and emphasis on what childhood affinity they had for building X.
Worse word garble AI I've ever heard. And his eyes would just read left to right, over and over.
Mind you this company gave him a summer internship for his senior year of his B.S. degree. So they must be time travelers to have inspired him as a kid.
Anyway. Just don't use AI for the interview. Interviews are easy, just know what the company is about, what the job your applying for is about, and your personal stories of why you like doing X.
