Long story short but I got laid off from my entry-level corporate position back in December. It sucked, since it was the week before Christmas and it felt like a major setback, but I just said, "welp!" and applied for unemployment. It's better than nothing but it's not that much money honestly since I only last 7 months with this company. I already know the job market in full-time corporate roles is terrible at the moment, so I've been applying to SO many types of part-time retail, serving, hostess, and sales associate jobs to at least still have "somewhat" of an income while I look for full-time work.
I even went ahead and "tweaked" my resume so I don't look over-qualified. I took off my bachelors degree and replaced with my high school diploma. I also left off my corporate job and put my part-time jobs that I had in college/high school at the top. I even have over 3 years of basic customer experience from those jobs too.
I am just so frustrated. I've submitted TONS and TONS of applications for basic customer service jobs but yet NONE of them get back to me!! I've even called places to follow-up and it's either, "Sorry we're not hiring!" or "We'll check on your application!" just to get no response. I don't fucking understand why these places post applications if they REFUSE to hire anyone, and the places that ARE hiring want so much experience for a freaking minimum wage retail job!! I did have an interview for a front desk associate at one of the local gyms in my area. It's been two weeks since my interview and still haven't heard back. If you're also frustrated, I would like to hear your thoughts...
