I just got back from a team lunch my company paid for and it was really nice. But what struck me was that they didn't just pay for lunch. They also gave everyone a 10 dollar gift card to a local coffee shop. It's stuff like that which makes me feel like they actually care about their employees. I've worked at places before where the 'employee appreciation' was just a half-hearted email or a mandatory team building activity that felt like a waste of time. This felt different. It felt like they put some thought into it.
