I am part of middle management at my company and my company was recently acquired by a larger company. During this transition, the previous senior leadership with the exception of my direct supervisor have all but left or terminated.
My boss recently told me that I should apply to a job opening which has very similar job responsibilities as my current role, but with different job title. This was not an internal job posting, but instead posted on linkedin. I applied through official channels and it felt like I had become an external candidate.
My associates were told the same thing but to apply to other similar positions.
Today my boss told me that I may even have to go through an interview for the role.
Is this normal during restructuring? I am afraid that they will use the application process as an excuse to let me go and dissolve my position. Any insight would be appreciated
