Last week I had a recruiter reaching out to me as a response to a job posting I've applied to a while ago. I do apply quite extensively so when I didn't recall the recruiting agency name, I just googled it and it seemed legit. They said I passed the resume screening, and they would like to conduct an HR interview via Microsoft Teams. Sounded completely normal so far. So I added to the Teams chat their "Senior Recruiter" as they said. I googled the guy, he was indeed a recruiter at the said company.
The Teams interview time was up, and the first thing they told me they would like to conduct it via the Teams chat. I was surprised since generally I was having Teams calls, not chats. However I went with it. We started chatting but the recruiter seemed like an AI bot. He was posting information about the recruiting agency and the job position (it was a Data Analyst position btw), like some ChatGPT print outs. It was interactive, so they asked me if I knew this and that, if I'm ok with the salary range etc.
Somewhere along this conversation, they started asking me how I wanted my salary to be delivered, by check, direct deposit or something else. Only then I realized I'm going to be scammed! So I promptly closed the chat, and blocked the "guy". Of course I didn't respond to bank related prompts.
Posting this so people will be aware of this scam going on.
