3 months ago I joined a new company as a temporary employee. I came in and was rapidly able to turn around the projects that had been missed and failed by my predecessor. I was able to rebuild trust that had been lost by my predecessor and I have only been told good things from my director and all stakeholders I work with.
A month and a half ago, my director told me that they are hiring for a full time position for my position and I should apply as a formality so they can get me into the full time position. I pushed back a little bit to expand the role description and title to reflect the work I was actually doing.
After a couple of weeks and back and forth my director said that they would go back to the original description and post the job and that any changes could be managed through my new manager who started a few weeks ago.
The job was posted, I applied. A week later the job posting was taken down. My new manager told me that based on what was received, I have nothing to worry about.
Now 2.5 weeks after the job was taken down I still have not been told I'm getting the full time position, my manager can't commit to a timeline and tells me they are wanting to do things by the book, and my contract is up in less than a month.
My manager is continuously telling me that I'm doing a great job and they appreciate my work, they tell me that I've played the most helpful role in onboarding them, etc.
With my contract being up so soon, I can't help but worry that I'm getting the rug pulled from underneath me. I've been burned before in other roles.
Could that be happening here?
