A Side of layoff no one talks about

Got a friend who got laid off about 2 months ago. He was getting interview calls but was getting rejected in either the first or the second round, but he was never given a proper reason.

The most common reason he got was "you're not the right fit," nothing more than this. Then in an interview on Wednesday (17th June), he was interviewed and was asked for the reason he was laid off, and honestly, he did not have any.

He was working in a startup that merged with another, and his role was not needed(a very common thing in startups), then the interviewer (CTO) told him that he has the skills but because he was laid off he can;'t trust my friend and there must be something wrong with his performance

And this side of layoff is what no one talks about, no one care if the company you worked for fired you for no reason all they see is a layed off employee desperate for a job
